DNA Structure is Not the Source of Your Life

July 15th, 2008

We are not born with certain predetermined genetic coding that directs or overrides any preferred choices we have or desire in our lifetime.  Darwin had it half right, we do pass on our DNA code to our children and much has stemmed from and is used from this theory in applicable day-to-day scenarios.  But we have the choice to win the ‘survival of the fittest’ game.

We are NOT predetermined to live with any genetic coding flaw within our DNA code.  What? …you say.  What Darwin left out is the environment in which each of us chooses to live.  Our bodies are so extremely complex and skilled that we do not yet know all there is about how quickly our bodies are responding to the environment in which we find ourselves.  Are we predisposed to one disease or obesity or illness?  Well, only if we place ourselves in an environment that is conducive to ‘activating’ the proteins and genes in our body to respond in this manner.  In other words, the DNA is there, the ‘potential’ for any disease is there, now its up to us to live and treat our bodies well or live and treat our bodies abusively.  This conversation can take many directions, but for now, lets thinks of it as ‘garbage in – garbage must be dealt with’.  If we place ourselves in an environment that forces our bodies to activate illness, that is what we are going to create and experience.  We are NOT going to simply get ill because of our DNA or ‘genes’.

We control the outcome and the way we do is to stay as well kept as possible.  Balance your intake of healthy foods and antioxidant supplements, exercise (move your body!), live and play in good, healthy environments and your environment will direct your DNA and only good genes will be activated.

…might need to start and entire new blog dedicated specifically to this topic.

Best Hybrid Golf Club I Ever Hit

July 11th, 2008

Not too long ago, I removed my dreaded 2 iron and 3 iron from my arsenal.   I was about 1 in 8 (or 9) to hit it flush and not have to use a wedge on my next shot.  So I made up my mind to look for hybrids to replace the long irons.

I went to demo-days at my local range.  They had about 15 different manufacturers all with the latest and greatest.  I quickly decided to take my time and hit them all… what an eye opener!

I methodically started at one end of the range and worked my way down, noting which I hit the best and always trying to outperform it as I moved along.  About an hour later, I was at the other end and had made three switches and narrowed my search to two club makers.

So I hit these two again and only one was undoubtedly the best I could hit.  Frankly I was not missing… every shot seem to fly off the club.  I even tried to intentionally miss-hit – I did get off line a bit, but the distance was better than anything else I had hit over the two-plus hours spent there.

So I noted the specs of the clubs the Adams A3 Hybrid
(graphite shaft) and went online to buy them (found a discount code for Austads – at end of the post).

And, I actually bought the 2, 3 and 4 hybrids and promptly removed my 4 iron from my bag as well.  How did I improve?  Well, now I seem to hit about 7-8 out of 10 (vs 1 in 8 with my irons) AND I seem to be getting these distances-

2 Hybrid – 225-235 yards
3 Hybrid – 210-225 yards
4 Hybrid – 195-205 yards

In short… I will take the improvement!  So far, I dropped about 1.4 strokes off my index and I look forward to further improvement this season.  I will post updates as the season continues.

Now for the code… I stumbled upon this as I was writing the post.  Austad’s has a 10% off code
… not sure how long it will be valid, but here it is 25253 – just enter it in during checkout I believe.  They do say some manufacturers are excluded, by I tested Adams and it seemed fine.

Post your improvements/comments on your hybrids… would love to hear about it.

The Best Home Decor Site goes 2.0 with Video

April 9th, 2008

Ok, so I am not a huge shopper.  But I am a huge fan of great places to shop.  I have been going to Material Possessions in Chicago for years every time I need that little extra something in a gift or when looking for decorating ideas.

Well, I stopping at their site today http://www.materialpossessions.com and I found something brand new.  They are introducing video to the mix of product presentation.  This was a kick to see one of their artists, Alice Goldsmith (outstanding ceramic dinnerware) pulling together a table designed right in the store!

Anyway, have a look and enjoy the clip for their Table of the Month series as they put it.

Why Blog about Products and Software and News

April 1st, 2008

Well, after years of suffering through endless searches of things I had seen, heard about or otherwise used in some form, I am tired of re-searching for these items when I finally am ready to use a product or software.

This is a compilation of the latest and greatest that I have either directly used or have been given the green light through my consultants to review for future consideration.  And so, here we go…
